PARA Marine Search and Rescue
PARA is a Community based member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary. Our Unit currently patrols Lake Ontario between The Rouge River and Whitby Harbour, this area includes approximately 25km of coastline and covers 180 square nautical miles of Lake Ontario. Within this area there are 6 public access beaches, 6 Marinas/Yacht Clubs and is home to approximately 350,000 inhabitants.
Our Volunteers
PARA members have been active in the community for almost 50 years. Starting in the late ’60s through to today. They come from all walks of life but have had and continue to have a common goal:
Our Vessel
PARA currently maintains one patrol vessel, call sign PARU (Pickering Auxiliary Rescue Unit). This boat has been in service since 1997.
